Mrs. Josephine Hood Crawford, 85, of Midland, GA passed on Monday, June 22, 2026 in Columbus, GA.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. EST on Sunday, June 28, 2026 at Hopewell Baptist Church, Upatoi, GA with Rev. F.R. Smith, Pastor, officiating. Burial to follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. EST on Saturday, June 27, 2026.

Josephine Crawford was born on March 8, 1941, in Columbus, GA to the late Willie Milton and Josephine Celeste Hood. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at her home church, Pitts Chapel AME in Midland, GA. During her adult years, she was an active and faithful member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Upatoi, GA until her health declined.

On December 26, 1963, Josephine was married to Jimmy Richard Crawford of Upatoi, GA. To this union, one son was born: Jarvis S. Crawford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, four brothers: Freddie, Willie Edward, John Henry, and Lewis Hood; and her sisters: Doris Hood, Gloria Thornton, Gracie Wofford, Hattie Bailey, and Loretta Daniel.

Mrs. Josephine leaves behind to cherish her memory: her granchildren: Tionna (Mark) Harris of Ellerslie, GA, Corey Crawford of Central, SC, Brandi Crawford, and Brendon Crawford, both of Midland, GA; her brother: Theodore (Kicha) Hood of Columbus, GA; five great-grandchildren: Aaron Harris, Knox Elam, Alesia Harris, Josiah Crawford, and Alayna Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
