Rev. Marvin Gordon was born on May 18, 1947, to Bill and Andrew Lee Gordon. He was the youngest of six children. Rev. Gordon graduated from Westlake High School in Atlanta, GA, where his love for ministry began.
He had one son, Elgin, and was a stepfather to four children: Valerie, Napoleon, Charles and Carlo from his late wife, whom he met at Piedmont Hospital/Shepherd Center. He spent 38 devoted years of marriage to his late wife. Rev. Gordon enjoyed spending time with family, fellowshipping with his community on the radio (WAOK) and his pastor friends, where he pastored at Antioch Baptist Church South (Atlanta, GA).
Rev. Gordon went on to serve his community as the chaplain in Fulton County jails and was a proud member of Atlanta Metropolitan Baptist Minister Union until his health declined. He was surrounded by the love of his family and his devoted niece “Terri” who was faithfully by his bedside where he peacefully transitioned, leaving a legacy of faith, compassion and devoted service to family and his community.
He is proceeded in death by his late wife, First Lady Jonie Gordon; two stepsons, Napoleon and Carlo McCier of Atlanta, GA; three sisters: Ruth Price, Ruby Gordon of Atlanta, GA and Emma Jean Smith of Decatur, GA; four brothers: Bill Gordon Jr., Johnny Gordon, Charlie Gordon and Willie Gordon all of Atlanta, GA.
