The funeral services for the late Mr. Leonard Polk, who departed this life on Friday, July 3, 2026, will be held on Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. from the Shipp's Funeral Home Chapel in Sylvester, Georgia. Minister Brenda Hamilton will deliver the Eulogy. Burial will follow in the Shepard Memorial Garden.

Today, we gather to celebrate the beautiful life and lasting legacy of Leonard Polk, whose light touched the hearts of all who knew him. Born on July 19, 1975 in Worth County, Georgia to the late Mr. Garland Polk and Patricia Thurmond, Leonard was raised by Charles and Patricia Thurmond. He was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, faithful friend, and a man whose kindness and strength inspired everyone around him.

Throughout his life, Leonard was in the United States Army. He worked at the Albany Marine Corps Logistics Base. He was also a mechanic who loved working on vehicles. Leonard also loved planting a garden for family and friends. He loved his fur animals (his dogs and rabbits). Leonard loved all that God created and treated them with so much love and compassion.

Leonard, leaves to mourn his loving mother Patricia Thurmond. Two children; Malaisa McCray and Contrez Polk; one step daughter, Kenyatta Stephens; a grandson, Zyiere McCray; sisters, Tabatha and Hope; six brothers, Darrell, Dr. Cornelius, Lanier (Nakita), Charles (Lacey), Maxwell (Gresha) and Alex; nieces, Harmony and Eden; nephews, Quenyenta, Johnathan and Kendall; aunts, Amanda, Geraldine, Doretha (SGM Jack), Brenda, Mary; uncles, James and CSM Marvin; and a host of other aunts, uncles, close friends and relatives.
