Mrs. Majorie Duncan, a resident of Montgomery, AL, transitioned September 19, 2026. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2026, at Resurrection Catholic Church from, 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. followed by Funeral Service at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Eastwood Cemetery.

Marjorie Duncan was born on January 22, 1946, in Montgomery, Alabama, to the late Marie Duncan Houston. On Saturday, September 19, 2026, she peacefully transitioned to her heavenly home in Montgomery, Alabama, at the age of 80.

Marjorie spent her early years in Montgomery before relocating to Pennsylvania with her family. She graduated from Chester High School in Chester, Pennsylvania, in 1964. Following graduation, she returned to Montgomery to further her education at Alabama State College, now known as Alabama State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in 1968. A cherished sister of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, she exemplified the spirit of sisterhood, service, and excellence.

Marjorie dedicated her professional career to federal government service, including positions with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Smithsonian Institution. Her career took her to Maryland, where she resided for a number of years before eventually returning to her hometown of Montgomery.

A woman of faith, Marjorie joined Resurrection Catholic Missions in Montgomery, Alabama, alongside her mother in 1997, where she remained a faithful member.

Marjorie was known for her soft-spoken nature, warm smile, and meticulous attention to detail. A lifelong lover of history and learning, she enjoyed visiting museums, playing Bridge at the senior center, and challenging others to a good game of Scrabble. Though soft-spoken, she had a competitive spirit of her own. She also enjoyed making beautiful and delicious homemade candy to share with others, a reflection of the care and creativity she brought to everything she did.

Marjorie had a heart for caring for others, generously giving her time and love to family, friends, and those in need. She treasured her relationships and took great pride in the friendships she maintained for decades, affectionately referring to those closest to her as her “forever friends.”

Marjorie was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Duncan Houston; her stepfather, Everett Houston, Sr.; and her brother-in-law, Raymond Thomas, Sr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving sister, Celestine Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; her brother, Everett F. Houston, Jr. of Detroit, Michigan; her niece, Tracie Thomas of Detroit, Michigan; her nephews, Raymond Thomas, Jr. (Ella) of Lansing, Kansas, and Duane Thomas (Rhonita) of Detroit, Michigan; and a host of cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.
