Vita Petrina Valencia Jenkins Davis was born on December 17, 1976, in Rhine, Georgia, to Marie Jenkins Anderson and the late William A. Jenkins. Raised in Macon, Georgia, Vita lived a life filled with faith, family, love, strength, and determination.
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Vita transitioned from this earthly life into eternity.
“To be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.” — 2 Corinthians 5:8
Vita was a proud 1996 graduate of Southwest High School. She recently had the joy of attending her 30th class reunion, reconnecting and celebrating with fellow Southwest High School classmates. She completed the Medical Assisting Program at Central Georgia Technical College in 1999 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Management from Daytona State College in 2011.
Family was at the center of Vita’s life. When her children were young, she proudly devoted herself to being a homemaker, wife, and mother, creating a loving and supportive home for her husband and children. As her family grew, Vita transitioned into a career in government service, working in an administrative capacity with the State Attorney’s Office for Florida’s Seventh Judicial Circuit in Daytona Beach. She remained dedicated to her career until ongoing health challenges led to her retirement.
Vita was also a remarkable 26-year post heart transplant warrior. Her journey was a powerful testimony of faith, courage, and perseverance. Through the victories, setbacks, trials, and blessings of her health journey, Vita openly shared her story with others and always gave God the glory. She refused to allow her health challenges to define her life and remained a fighter until the end.
To know Vita was to know a woman who was loving, courageous, outspoken, and strong. She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family deeply. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, experiencing different countries and cultures, and had a special love for butterflies. Through every triumph and trial, Vita held firmly to her faith and never believed in giving up.
Vita was preceded in death by her father, William A. Jenkins, and her beloved son, Deon O. Jenkins.
Vita leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory her devoted husband, Dr. Kenneth Davis of Palm Coast, Florida; her son, Kenneth Wayne Davis of Gainesville, Florida; her mother, Sister Marie Anderson of Palm Coast, Florida; her brothers, Dr. William A. Jenkins Jr. of Jacksonville, Florida, and Otis M. Whitehead of Fredericksburg, Virginia; her sisters, Anne L. Howard (Kenan) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Sierra Tinsley of Byron, Georgia, and Brittany Harts of Rhine, Georgia; her special friend and spiritual sister, Gwensavona Jackson of Jacksonville, Florida; along with a host of in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and many special friends whom she held dear to her heart.
Vita’s life was a beautiful journey of faith, family, love, perseverance, and strength. For 26 years following her heart transplant, she showed us what it meant to fight, to live, to love, and above all, to trust God. Today, we celebrate not only the years of her life, but the lives she touched, the love she gave, and the testimony she leaves behind. To God be the glory for the life and legacy of Vita Petrina Valencia Jenkins Davis.
