CHARLIE GARY PIERCY, son of the late Harry and Frances Winckler Piercy, was born January 29, 1947, in Richmond, VA and departed this life on September 12, 2026 in Jacksonville, FL. He was also preceded in death by his siblings- William, Benny, James, Joe, Herman, Mary, and Lucy Piercy.

Later the family moved to Baskerville, VA area. He attended four Mecklenburg County Schools- Bloom Hill Grade School, Ebenezer Elementary, Cedar Grove Elementary, John Groom Elementary, and lastly East End High School.

Charlie joined Sharon Baptist Church at the age of 13. At the age of 17, he left home and moved to Newark, NJ, along with other members of the Piercy family.

At the age of 19, he met and married Shirley Evans and to this union four children were born. A son- Reuben “Tony” A. Piercy preceded him in death.

Charlie was employed with Greyhound Bus Company for forty-five years until retirement and then he worked at the U.S. Postal Service as a M.V.S. tractor trailer driver for 28 years until his retirement. In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling and Charlie’s favorite color was green.

After retirement he moved back to his roots in Baskerville, VA and returned to Sharon Baptist Church where he served as an usher. Charlie was the last adult of the Piercy Family.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his children- Winifred Piercy-Foster of Henderson, NC; Charles A. (Jackie) Piercy of Durham, NC; Derrick A. (Tonya) Piercy, of Jacksonville, FL and Andre’ (Jessica) Hammond of Oxon Hill, MD; nine grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Bertha and Dina Piercy; Godchild- Jameise Crutchfield; sister/niece- Doretta (Daniel) House; devoted friend- Robert Brooks of Baskerville, VA and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
