Gregory Allen Davis, born April 24, 1954, in Youngstown, Ohio, passed away on September 21, 2026. After spending much of his adult life in Columbus, Ohio, Gregory returned to his hometown of Youngstown, where he spent his final days surrounded by family, memories, and the people who loved him.

Greg was a man of many talents, interests, and ambitions. He had a passion for entrepreneurship and dreamed of creating opportunities for himself and building something of his own. Throughout his life, he worked in many different fields and developed a wide range of skills. His willingness to learn, work hard, and take on new challenges reflected his independent spirit and determination. He attended Wesleyan College and carried that entrepreneurial drive with him throughout his life.

Music was an important and integral part of Greg’s life. He had a deep love for jazz and especially enjoyed playing the guitar. Music gave him a way to express himself, find joy, and connect with the world around him. It was one of the many things that revealed his thoughtful, creative spirit.

Greg was also known for his wonderful sense of humor. He loved telling jokes, making people laugh, and bringing lightheartedness wherever he went. His humor helped create moments of warmth and connection, and those who knew him will remember the joy he brought into ordinary days.

Greg appreciated the simple pleasures in life as well which included one of his favorite places to dine, Church’s Chicken. A proud Steelers fan, Gregory’s passion for football was matched only by his love for his relatives and friends.

Family was important to Greg. He was the father of Gregory Rashawn Davis and Enrie Davis, and he also helped raise his stepson, Jay Greene, from a young age. Greg extended that same sense of family to the sons of those around him, welcoming, encouraging, and looking out for them as well.

Greg's care, wisdom and concern of others were not limited to words; it was shown through the guidance, support, and steady presence he offered. His influence reached beyond his immediate family, leaving a lasting impression on many who were fortunate to know him.

Greg is survived by his sons, Gregory Rashawn Davis and Enrie Davis; his grandson, Avery Allen Davis; his brother, Terry Davis; his sister, Susan Moorer; and his nephews, Chris Moorer, Lawrence Brown, Johnny Brown and Terry Michael Davis.

During his final days, when asked how he was doing, Greg would often respond, “Getting better every day.” Those words reflected his determination to keep looking forward, even during difficult times. They also capture the spirit he carried throughout his life: resilient, hopeful, and unwilling to give up. As he triumphantly entered eternity, Greg was reunited with his beloved mother and his brother, Larry Davis.

Greg will be remembered for his entrepreneurial spirit, his love of jazz and guitar, his quick sense of humor, and the care he extended to family and those around him. More than the many things he did, he will be remembered for the way he made people feel, welcomed, encouraged, and cared for. His influence will continue through his family, the memories he created, and the lives he touched. He reminds us daily, keep “Getting better every day!”

As we remember Gregory, may we take solace in the everlasting impact he had on our lives and the love he shared with his family. His spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of all who loved him.

In honor of Gregory’s life and the cherished memories shared, family and friends will gather in celebration of a life well-lived and loved, at a memorial service which will be held at the Jaylex Event Center, 2110 Glenwood Ave, on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10:00 AM. with Rev. Lewis Macklin as the celebrant.
