Ezekiel "Zeke" Moore, Jr.

Passed 09/22/2026

Ezekiel "Zeke" Moore, Jr. was born in Tuskegee, Alabama, to Ezekiel Moore Sr. and Carrie McDaniel Moore, the youngest of nine children. He attended Tuskegee Institute High School before continuing his education at Lincoln University in Missouri, where he distinguished himself as a gifted student-athlete, competing in track, baseball, basketball, and football.

In 1967, Zeke was drafted by the Houston Oilers in the fifth round, beginning an accomplished 11-year career in the National Football League as a cornerback. His talent, determination, and dedication to the game earned him the honor of being selected to two Pro Bowls.

Following his NFL career, Zeke continued his commitment to serving others through a career in law enforcement with Harris County Constable Precinct 1. His passion for giving back extended beyond his professional responsibilities. He later served as an ambassador for the Houston Texans, where he shared his experiences, encouraged young people, and inspired student-athletes to pursue excellence both on and off the field.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Zeke found joy in the simple moments of life. He loved fishing, spending time at little league sporting events, and relaxing while watching Western movies.

Zeke was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings, and his grandsons, Denerrick Kindell Jr. and Jahmeel Williams.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 37 years, Carolyn Moore; his five children-sons Denerrick Kindell (Yolanda), Reginald Howard Moore, and Ezekiel Moore III.; and daughters Tina Wilburn (Terrance) and Eleska Moore; his grandchildren, Terrance, Jahmar, Tye, Bre'Anna Kamesha, and Desmond; his great-grandchildren, Braelyn and Israel; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members, and cherished friends.

Though his earthly journey has come to an end, Zeke's legacy will continue through the family he loved, the young lives he encouraged, the community he served, and the many people whose lives he touched. His memory will forever remain a testament to a life well lived, a race well run, and a man deeply loved.
