Ellington Roosevelt Williams, Sr. also known as “E.R” of Quitman, Georgia, was called home
from labor to reward on September 22, 2026, in Valdosta, Georgia.
Ellington was born to the late Emma Mae Williams and Maceo Willie Williams. He was baptized
in the Church of Christ as a young boy and remained rooted in his faith throughout his life. He
was a devoted member of South 41 Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Emma Mae Williams and Maceo Willie Williams,
and five siblings: Gladys Ragin, Willie Williams, Marcell Williams, Melvin Williams, and
Josie Williams. Extended sibling: Ruby Williams
Ellington attended Washington Street High School in Quitman, Georgia, and entered the
workforce afterward. He dedicated 30 years of service to Langdale Inc., from which he later
retired. He continued working and was employed with Sandlin Logging for 4 years prior to his
passing.
Ellington was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family and staying active.
He enjoyed driving trucks, gardening, yardwork and most of all spending time with his family.
Those who knew him will remember him for the time he gave to the people he loved and the
memories he created with them.
Ellington leaves to cherish his memory, his five sons, Ellington Williams, Jr. (Erika), Tony Williams (Cynthia), Jason Williams (LaToya), Eric Williams (Demetrise) and Tevin Williams (Christina); 17 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren and 10 living siblings: Rosie Williams, Elijah Williams, Arthur Williams, Larry Williams (Earnestine), Mizell Williams, Brenda Williams, Andrew Williams, Annie Register and Bobbie Joe Dumas; extended siblings: Floyd Demps (Louella), Leroy Demps, Sr. ( Shirley), Linda Sherman (Robert), Pat
Fulton (John Lee) and Larry Hadley. A special family friend Ms. Brenda Monds; Special cousin Sylvia Johnson along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Ellington Roosevelt Williams, Sr. leaves behind a legacy of hard work, faith, family, and love.
His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created and the love he shared will
remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at 12:00 P.M. at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Quitman, Georgia. Livestream will be available.
Visitation is Friday, October 2, 2026 from 2:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at the Stevens-McGhee Funeral Home.
