Jacquelyn was born on August 17,1946, to Evangeline Cue Jones and Lucious Pete Duncan. The second of nine children, Jackie was adored from an early age where she was affectionately called “porcelain doll”. She lovingly helped her mother care for her younger siblings, establishing a lifelong devotion to family. Jackie attended Walter E. Harris High School where she played the clarinet and served as Drum major during her senior year. She graduated in 1963 at only 16 years old. She continued her education at Florida Normal College in St. Augustine, Florida, which later relocated to Miami and became Florida Memorial College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. She began her professional career with the James E. Scott Community Association, assisting families experiencing poverty and hardship. She moved to Brooklyn, New York and continued in social services. Upon returning to Miami she worked with Eastern Airlines until they folded.
She entered the music industry and became a top DJ at WEDR 99.1 FM . She promoted top performing artists, including Betty Wright and David Hudson. Jackie later built a successful career in real estate with The Keyes Company, where she served as relocation program manager for many years.
Faith remained an important foundation starting at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Hastings and continuing as a devoted member and choir member at 93rd Street Community Baptist Church in Miami, Florida. She faithfully participated in family prayer each Saturday. She was blessed to be surrounded by her family as she peacefully transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father.
