A Time for Every Purpose Under the Heaven...
During Nazarie's hay-days she worked as the "Director of the "New Cassel United Community Center" Here she was the "Trail Blazer's Day Care Director, Senior Citizens Site Manager, Youth Program Leader and Building Manager (all at the same time) from 1977 until 2001.
A Time to Love...
At the age of 21 she welcomed her first child. Knowing that she wanted better opportunities for herself and her growing family, she moved from Florida to Westbury, New York, in 1969 with two daughters, after which she welcomed her third child. With love and much encouragement her daughters graduated from college.
A Time to Embrace...
Nazarie was an active member of Westbury UMC for over fifty years. Here she developed numerous friends and acquaintances. She was instrumental in helping to establish the present "Food Pantry" at the church where over 100 families are served weekly. She was instrumental in securing several grants and other necessary assistance for families. She was also able to engage some students from the NY Institution of Technology - College of Osteopathic Medicine.
A Time to Plant...Build-up...To Speak...
Nazarie and some of her relatives worked as 'sharecroppers' picking fruits, vegetables and cotton. Her mother also taught her how to cook at a very young age, and she became an excellent cook. She also worked cooking for the landowner as a teenage thereby removing her from the fields, thus she was able to graduate from High School and later college with an associate's degree in early education. She received numerous citations for her hard work, such as: "Baha'I Center of Nassau County Community Award", "Town of North Hempstead May W. New Burger Women's Roll of Honor Award", Office of the Nassau County Controller Certificate of Recognition", along with many other recognitions from various organizations.
