Woodrow "Woody" Aikens, Jr. age 54, of Pikesville, MD, passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026, just two weeks after celebrating his 54th birthday. He leaves behind a legacy of family, friendship, hard work and quiet strength.
Woodrow was born in Harrisburg, PA to the late Woodrow E. Aikens, Sr. and Claudette M. (Waters) Aikens. He attended William Penn Vo-Tech where he studied masonry and played baseball for the Cougars. He graduated from the Harrisburg School District, Class of 1991.
A natural athlete, Woody went on to play college baseball at Hagerstown Community College. The game taught him teamwork and perseverance, and it gave him friendships that lasted long after his playing days were over. After college, he worked as a mason, and in his free time spent hours listening to music and making beats.
Woody spent more than 20 years working in the trucking industry, where his gift for gab meant he never met a stranger. He later put his values to work when he founded his own home improvement company, AFAM. His clients knew him as someone they could trust completely. If Woody said he would be there, he was there, and the job was done right. Many of his clients came to think of him as a friend and his staff as family.
Above all, Woody was devoted to his family. On July 5, 2026, he and his beloved wife, Jodi, celebrated 24 years of marriage. He was the proud father of Autumn, Torren and Rilynn, and few things brought him more joy than watching his children grow up, whether he was proudly sharing stories of Autumn’s career as a flight attendant, cheering on the sidelines at Torren's soccer games or in the bleachers at Rilynn's volleyball matches. He had also recently welcomed a new member to the family, his dog, Crumbs. On Sundays, you could find him in black and gold, faithfully rooting for his Pittsburgh Steelers since he was a child. Those who knew Woody will remember his big smile and strong, calm demeanor. He was steady in every storm, and nobody can recall ever seeing him angry. You could always count on Woody — as a husband, father, brother, friend and businessman.
Woody was preceded in death by his parents, Woodrow E. Aikens, Sr. and Claudette M. Aikens; brother, Kyle L Aikens and grandparents, Rachel and Jake Waters and Mary and Woodrow U. Aikens.
He leaves to cherish precious memories of him, his beloved wife, Jodi Aikens; his loving in-laws of Maryland; his children, Autumn Necole Pate, Torren Woodrow Aikens and Rilynn Camille Aikens; his sister, Michelle Aikens; nephew, Matthew Lesenyie; great nephew, Louis Lesenyie; uncles and aunts, Jesse Alphonso, Connie, Eric Greene, Jan, Aunts Sylvia Ross, Sue Waters; along with a host of extended family, friends, relatives and close cousins, Troy, Mont, Adriane, JeCon, Ruki, Davia, Keith and clients.
Woody spent his life building things that last — homes, friendships, and a family that will carry his steady love with them always. Rest easy, Woody.
Woody's life will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026 in the Chapel of the Major H. Winfield Funeral Home, Steelton with viewing and visitation 9:00 - 11:00 a.m. and burial in William Howard Day Cemetery.
