Leon M. Cooper was born on August 24, 1978, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, to Leon Spanks and Sarah Cooper. He was raised by his beloved grandmother, Baby Ruth Cooper. A 1996 graduate of Benton Harbor High School, Leon also attended Arkansas Northeastern College. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served his country honorably. He was a faithful member of Promiseland Church of God in Christ, where he participated in the Brotherhood and served on the security detail. Known for his dapper style and keen sense of fashion, Leon was always “Fresh and Clean.” He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and was an avid fan of the University of Alabama and the San Francisco 49ers.

Leon was preceded in death by his father, Leon Spanks, his grandmother, Baby Ruth Cooper, an Aunt Alice Cooper, and his son, Kaden L. Cooper. He transitioned on Saturday, October10, 2026 in the Col. Luke Weather VA Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee.

Those left to cherish his memories are is mother, Sarah Cooper of Malden, Missouri, his son, Roosevelt Banks of Osceola, Arkansas; his daughter, Kayla Cooper also of Osceola, Arkansas; his brother, Alex (Shellena Stone) Cooper of Dallas, Texas, his sisters, Hope Cooper of Hoover, Alabama; and Lisa (Jamal) Williams of Malden, Missouri; many nieces, nephews, his Promiseland Church of God in Christ family, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at 10:00 am at Promiseland Church of God in Christ, 2141 US Hwy 61, Osceola, Arkansas where Elder Johnny Moore is the pastor.

Celebration of Life Services are scheduled at 11:00 am. Elder Johnny Moore will deliver the eulogy. Interment is scheduled for Monday, October 19, 2026, at 12:00 noon in the Arkansas Veterans Cemetery – Birdeye, located at 3600 AR-163, Cherry Valley, Arkansas.
