Tonnie enjoyed entertainment on his iPad and possessed a naturally inquisitive spirit, often teaching himself how to navigate and understand new things. One of his greatest joys was serving as the family's unofficial photographer during the annual Kitchens Thanksgiving Dinner and other family gatherings. He took great pride in capturing special moments, carefully positioning family members to ensure every photo was just right.

In 1992, Tonnie moved to Baltimore, Maryland, to live with his sister, La Verne. When La Verne relocated to Texas in 1994 due to military commitments, Tonnie remained in Baltimore and began living independently in his own apartment with minimal assistance through Community Support Services for the Deaf (CSSD). During this time, his sign language skills flourished, allowing him to communicate more effectively and engage more fully within the deaf community.

While residing in Baltimore, Tonnie worked for a major fast-food chain, where he proudly served customers in various capacities. He remained a happy and valued member of the Baltimore community for several decades. However, as his health began to decline, he made the decision to return home in 2023 to Wadley, Georgia, where he could be closer to his loved ones.

Tonnie's life was marked by perseverance, independence, and a deep love for family. His memory will forever be cherished by those who knew and loved him.

He leaves to cherish his memory his brothers and sisters: Deacon Eddie (Dr. Connie) Kitchens of Stockbridge, Georgia; Tommy Kitchens of Wadley, Georgia; Nettie (Artis) Daniel of Wadley, Georgia; and La Verne Duthie of Winder, Georgia.

He is also survived by his beloved bonus siblings: Lester (Tammy) Washington of Covington, Georgia; Annette (Richard) Gilmore of Wadley, Georgia; Michael (Marteen) Smith of Marietta, Georgia; Ennis (Vickey) Brown of Harlem, Georgia and Yvonne Jackson of Miami, Florida.

Additionally, he leaves to cherish his memory his loving aunts: Ms. Rosa Kitchens of Bartow, Georgia; Ms. Sarah Kitchens of Wadley, Georgia, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends whose lives were enriched by his presence.

Though Tonnie's earthly journey has ended, the love, laughter, and treasured memories he shared will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.

"Well done, good and faithful servant." Matthew 25:23
