TYLER----Celebration of Life for Missionary Lessie Hunter McFarland, 71, of Lindale will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2026, 11 am at St. Louis Baptist Church with Pastor Preston White, eulogist. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery under direction of John R. Harmon Undertaking Company.

Lessie was born on August 22, 1954, in Big Sandy, Texas to the late Evelyn Stevenson and Milton Hunter, Sr. She transitioned on August 12, 2026. Lessie was a graduate of Winona High School and later obtained her Bachelor of Science Degree from Texas College.

She was the head seamstress at Penick and Chance Men’s Clothing Store where she dedicated herself to 30 years of service.

Missionary Lessie McFarland was a faithful member of Riverside Church of God in Christ where she served. She was dedicated and faithfully served as Youth Director, Bible Band Teacher, Hospitality Committee and Announcement Clerk.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Dorothy and brothers, James, Joe and Larry, Sr.

Left to cherish her precious memories: her spouse of 54 years, O.C. McFarland of Lindale, daughters: Demetri (John) Crawford of Converse, Texas, LaKisha (Gleen) Sims, Jr. of Round Rock, Texas, son: Marcus McFarland of Colorado, ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, sisters: Mattie (Robert) Harper, Evelyn Camper both of Tyler Ellen Battee of the Woodlands, Linda (Charles) Young of Winona, Jewell (Marvel) Daniels of Lancaster, brother: Milton (Thalia) Hunter, Jr. of Garland, and a host of other relatives and friends with whom she shared a special bond.

Public viewing will be Friday, August 21, 2026, 2-8 pm at the funeral home.
