It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sergeant First Class (Retired) Nathan T. Flores, a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, veteran, and friend.

Nathan was the proud father of his daughter, Abigail A. Flores, who was an important part of his life and will forever carry his love and legacy. He was the son of Rosa Reyes and the late Gilberto V. Flores, who passed away on June 11, 2003.

Nathan is survived by his mother, Rosa Reyes; his daughter, Abigail A. Flores; his sister, Veronica Bonebrake, and her husband, David Bonebrake; his brothers, Joseph Flores and Julio Zamarripa; his nephews, Jesse, Juan, Carlos, and Michael; and his nieces, Kat, Mikaela, Angelina, and Rebekkah. Each of them holds their own special memories of Nathan, memories that will keep his presence close and his place in their family forever Cherished.

Nathan proudly devoted more than 20 years of his life to serving his country in the United States Army, retiring honorably in 2022 at the rank of Sergeant First Class (SFC/E-7). Throughout his military career, he served his country both at home and abroad, including service in Iraq. His career was marked by dedication, sacrifice, and commitment, and he received numerous awards and decorations in recognition of his honorable service.

But Nathan was so much more than the uniform he wore and the rank he earned. To his family, he was a son, a father, a brother, and an uncle. To others, he was a coworker, a friend, and someone whose life crossed paths with many people throughout the years. Like all of us, Nathan was not perfect, but he was deeply and unconditionally loved. His sudden passing has left a loss in our family that words cannot fully express.

There was no time to prepare for goodbye. His death came unexpectedly, leaving behind shock and heartbreak, but also a lifetime of memories, stories, laughter, and moments that will remain with those who loved him. His absence leaves a space in our family that can never truly be filled.

Nathan will be laid to rest with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, where his cremated remains will be placed in the same columbarium niche as his father, Gilberto V. Flores. After more than two decades apart, father and son will finally rest together.

Those who knew Nathan are encouraged to remember him not only for the day we lost him, but for all the years that came before it: the experiences he shared, the people he loved, the places he traveled, the stories he told, the laughter he brought, and the memories he left behind.

His life mattered. His service mattered. His memories matter. And most of all, Nathan was loved.

He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, his fellow veterans, and all those whose lives he touched along the way.

Rest in peace, Nathan. Your service is complete. May you and Dad finally rest together.
