Annie Pinkston, affectionately known and loved by many, was born on September 28, 1950, in Memphis, Tennessee, to the late Roosevelt Cherry and Estella Cherry. Annie was a proud Tennessee country girl whose roots remained an important part of her identity throughout her life. She attended Barretts Chapel High School, where she received her early education and began building the foundation for the remarkable woman she would become.

Annie departed this earthly life on August 11, 2026, leaving behind a beautiful legacy of faith, family, love, music, and more than five decades of dedicated service in nursing.

For over 50 years, Annie devoted her life to caring for others as a nurse. Her career included serving at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, JH Floyd Sunshine Manor in Sarasota, Florida, and Miracle Hill in Tallahassee, Florida. Nursing was more than a profession for Annie-it was an expression of her caring heart and her desire to help others. Throughout her years of service, she touched countless lives with her compassion, dedication, and commitment to those in her care.

Annie's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She was a longtime member of Truvine Missionary Baptist Church in Sarasota, Florida, before relocating to Tallahassee, Florida, where she became a member of Greater Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. Her faith and relationship with God remained an important part of her life's journey.

Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alfred Richard Pinkston, Sr. and is remembered by his loving family; her parents, Roosevelt Cherry and Estella Cherry; and her siblings, Roosevelt Cherry Jr., Dorothy Coleman, John Cherry Sr., and Charles Cherry Sr.

A Legacy of Love

Annie leaves to cherish her memory her children: Adrian Cherry(Anike) of Jacksonville, Florida; Ashonna Williams( Anthony) of Tallahassee, Florida; and Abraham Davis III of Tampa, Florida. She leaves her beloved grandsons: Derrington Abnar Jr. of Lynchburg, Virginia; Anthony Williams II of Tallahassee, Florida; and Aaron Williams of Tallahassee, Florida.

She was also blessed with a precious great-granddaughter, Layla Abnar, who brought an additional generation of love and joy to her life.

Annie leaves to cherish her memory her beloved sister, Ethel Ophelia Cannon of Nashville, Tennessee, along with her godchildren, nieces, nephews, extended family, dear friends, and many others whose lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.

Annie will be remembered for her caring heart, strong spirit, unwavering faith, dedication to nursing, and devotion to family. She lived a life of service and left behind a legacy that will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-granddaughter, godchildren, family, friends, and all those who were blessed to know her.

Though her earthly presence will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Visitation will be held from 5:00pm-7:00pm on Fri., Aug. 21, 2026 at Jones Funeral Home. Services will be held 10:00am on Sat., Aug. 22, 2026 at Truvine Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be held at Manasota Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements by Jones Funeral Home.
