MR. JAMES CALVIN “CHICO” MACON, JR. - Age 82, of Dalton, GA passed away Saturday, August 22, 2026. He was born February 19, 1944 to his late parents, James Calvin Macon, Sr. and Martha Hunt Macon. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Lounette Tanner Macon; brother, Lamar Macon; sister, Rosetta White; grandmothers, Ruth King and Kate Pender; and great grandmother, Odie Macon.

James graduated Emery Street School Class of 1964. He retired from Collins & Aikman after 22 years of employment. James, affectionately known as “Chico” to his family and friends, enjoyed watching the news, basketball, boxing, as well as other sports, fishing, and spending time with his beloved family.

Those left to cherish James' memories are his beloved children, Maretta Denene (Anthony Weaver) Macon, Eric Toven Macon, Antonio Maurice (Marie) Macon, Bernard (Porsche) Ragland; grandchildren, Jeremy Macon, Justen Macon, Jalyn Macon, Brandi (Keanu) Hoyes, Tyrese Brahnam, Anya Womack, Oddysee Ragland, Calviaunna Ragland, and J'lyn Ragland, Tyree Ragland, and Tanner grandchildren; great grandchildren, Addison Macon, Jordan Macon, Beau Hoyes, Amari Pridgett, and Andre Pridgett; sister, Katie Ruth Wilkey; sister-in-law, Tennie Hixson; special nephews, Charles Neal, Bryant Macon, and Gary Love; special niece, Cynthia Macon; special cousins, Iva Lee Macon, Patsy McDade, Keysia Robbs, Deborah Macon; special friend and mother of his children; Jane Taylor Jones; caregivers, Caron Cobb, Warren White, and Derrick Tinson; a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Homegoing Celebration will be Saturday, August 29, 2026 at 11:00 AM at Willis Funeral Home with Bishop Nicky P. Starling, Eulogist. His remains will lie in state on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the funeral hour. Interment; West Hill Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Willis Funeral Home, Inc., Dalton, GA.
