L. Jerome Hartfield, “Jerome”, 68, devoted husband, father, and brother of Evans, Georgia, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 27, 2026, at 11:00 am at Beulah Grove Baptist Church, 1434 Poplar Street, Augusta, Georgia with the Rev. Wendell Nipper as eulogist and the Rev. Xavier Creekmur as officiant. Interment will follow immediately at Mt. Olive Memorial Gardens. The remains will lie in state at the church from 9:00 am until the hour of service. There will be no processional viewing.
L. Jerome Hartfield was born to the late Lucious and Jessie Ree Taylor Hartfield on March 29, 1958, in Augusta, Georgia. Jerome was a 1976 graduate of T.W. Josey High School. He was a member of Beulah Grove Baptist Church. Jerome was employed with Black and Veatch as an Electrical Superintendent.

He leaves to cherish his enduring memories: his loving and devoted wife, Cheryl Johnson Hartfield; children, Justen (Leanna) Hartfield, Grovetown, Georgia, Alexander(Dasjana) West, Augusta, Georgia, Jerome Antonio Hartfield, Nevada City, California, Amanda Hartfield (William) Jenkins, Augusta, Georgia, and Erica Hartfield(David) Morrow, Los Angeles, California; his only devoted and treasured sister, Dr. Jennifer Alva Xyna Hartfield, Kennesaw, Georgia; brothers, Dr. Kedrick (Cynthian) Hartfield, Macon, Georgia and Clinton (LaTina) Hartfield, Martinez, Georgia; a cherished niece, Parker Karrington Jaxyn Hartfield, Kennesaw, Georgia; 13 grandchildren, mother-in-law, Estelle Johnson, Aiken, South Carolina; brothers-in-law, Carl (Carrie) Johnson, Aiken, South Carolina, Gary Johnson, III, Aiken, South Carolina, Tim (Rose) Jackson, Blythewood, South Carolina, and JaAmal Willingham, Columbia, South Carolina; sisters-in-law, Joyce (Howard) Ivey, Jackson, South Carolina, Linda (Dwuane) Johnson, Aiken, South Carolina, and Teresa (John) Taylor, Beech Island, South Carolina; aunt, Darnell Taylor Strother, Augusta, Georgia; devoted cousins, Cathy L.
