Minister Larondo Lee Ashworth, Sr, 68, of Thomasville, NC, peacefully entered his heavenly mansion on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. He was born on January 18, 1958, to Roscoe Alfonzo Ashworth (Late) and Minnie Logan Ashworth. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lester Lamont Ashworth, and maternal grandparents, Eddie and Maggie Logan.

Larondo was the first African American male to integrate at Fairgrove Elementary School. He graduated from East Davidson High School in the class of 1976. He served in the United States Armed Forces and received an “Honorable Discharge” in 1982. He enjoyed traveling (cruises), driving, attending church, and spending time with family. He was a faithful ordained minister of Friendship Baptist Church of Thomasville, NC, for over 60 years, where he served as youth advisor, choir director, and Sunday school teacher. He also served as a Historian and Field Worker for the “Rising Star Baptist Association”.

He leaves to cherish his legacy and memory his loving and devoted wife, Dr. Fay Ashworth, of 44 years in Thomasville NC; two sons, Orlando Lee Ashworth (Chelsea) of Stafford, Va; Larondo Lee Ashworth Jr. of Fredericksburg, Va; two daughters, Uniquiki Stukes of Thomasville, NC, and Ya’londa Ortriss Ashworth of High Point, NC; and a special “ daughter in love” Albana Ashworth of Fredericksburg, Va; and eight grandchildren; Amiah LaNe’Ka, Landon Lee, Lucas Lee, Alivia Melina, Adriana Marie, Audrey MaLee, Gianna Grace and Logan Lee; one brother, LaBryant (Esther) Ashworth of High Point, NC; two sisters, Lawanda Jean Ashworth and Lavonna Renee Ashworth, both of High Point, NC; sisters -in-laws, Muriel Sanders, Evett Swinton of High Point, NC. Darlene (Houston) of York SC, Michelle (Derek) Miller of Greensboro, NC; brothers-in-law, James Swinton of High Point, NC, and Michael Swinton of Charlotte, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 12:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church, 106 Smith Street, Thomasville, NC. Interment will follow at Guil-Rand Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m.
