Celebration of Life Service for E-7 Sergeant First Class Jimmy Lee Lockhart

Jimmy was born in Greene County, Ga to the late Jimmy Lockhart and Ethel Mae Reid Lockhart. Jimmy was the second of three children in this union. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Jean Lockhart, and his brother, James Daniel Lockhart. On Friday, August 28, 2026, The Most High dispatched his angel to the Azalea Health Care Facility in Augusta, Ga to escort the soul of E-7 Sergeant First Class Jimmy Lee Lockhart to even greater heights.

He served with valor in the United States Army and the Vietnam War. He received the following commendations: Bronze Star Medal w/v Device, Army Commendation Medal (1 oak leaf cluster), Armed Forces Expeditional Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Gallantry Cross with Palm Unit Citation, 1 OS Bar, Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Claps (5 loops), Parachute Badge, and Army Service Ribbon (C I-18).

Jimmy was a devoted son, husband, father, brother, cousin, and friend, who will be remembered as hardworking, dedicated, kind and independent. He was a man who believed in doing things for himself and never allowed challenges to stand in his way. Even after losing his eyesight, Jimmy continued to live life on his own terms, showing determination and strength in everything, he did.

Jimmy was a faithful and devoted member of the Ebenezer Seventh Day Adventist Church of Augusta, Ga. Jimmy leaves behind family and friends to cherish his memory, as his wife Betty Lockhart recently preceded him in death.

Cherishing and reflecting his memories are his son, Miguel Lockhart (Sharlyn), 2 grand-children, 1 great-grandchild, his sister, Wilmatine Parks (Melvin), Aunt Rosetta L. Jernigan, nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

He also leaves behind a special and devoted friend and caregiver, Mrs. Betty Wilson, whose support and kindness meant so much to him! Godchildren, Elecia and Carlton Bradley, who visited him frequently to maintain his personal grooming, and Ms. Ruth Moore, who was always there for support.

We extend an extra special thank you to his niece, Jennifer Scott for securing and expediting precious photos for this special day.

We, the family are very grateful for the service of E-7 Sergeant First Class Jimmy Lee Lockhart. We appreciate his meritorious service to his county for his fellowmen.

His big, bright, bubbly smile will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.
