Ivy Icida Hendericks
Jul 12, 1931 — Aug 30, 2026

It is with profound sadness, yet with grateful hearts, that we announce the passing of Ivy Icida Hendericks, who peacefully departed this life on August 30, 2026, at the age of 95.

Ivy was born on July 12, 1931, in Hershey, Cuba. During her early years, she moved to Jamaica, where she grew up and began building the foundation of a life marked by strength, perseverance, and determination. Her journey eventually led her to the United States, where she made a life for herself and worked diligently as a domestic worker.

Ivy was a woman who understood the value of hard work and the importance of family. She carried with her the traditions, memories, and values of her Jamaican upbringing while embracing the opportunities that came with her life in America. Through every chapter of her journey, she remained a testament to resilience and the strength of a woman who had traveled far from where her story began.

Her life spanned nearly a century and witnessed generations of change. She leaves behind precious memories that will continue to live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Though her earthly journey has come to an end, the impact of her life will continue through the family, friends, and loved ones who were blessed to share in her journey.

A Life's Journey Home

From Hershey, Cuba, where her story began, To Jamaica, where she grew into the woman she would become, And across the waters to the United States, Ivy's life was a journey of courage, faith, and perseverance.

Now, after 95 beautiful years, Her journey brings her home once more.

Her remains will be shipped to Saint Catherine Parish, Jamaica, where family and loved ones will gather to celebrate her life and honor her memory. She will be laid to rest at Dovecot Memorial Park in Jamaica, returning to the land that was such an important part of her life's story.

Though she has traveled far, Her final journey is not one of distance—It is a journey home.

May she rest peacefully, May her memory forever remain, And may the love she shared continue to live In the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in eternal peace, Ivy Icida Hendericks. Your journey was long, your life was meaningful, And your memory will forever be cherished.

I can also make this more traditional and church-style, or add a beautiful Jamaican-themed “Going Home” poem suitable for the funeral program.
