Mary Kathrine (Laughlin) Bowden, age 93, left her earthly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on August 24, 2026, passing peacefully in her home. Mary K. was born on December 26, 1932, in La Palma, Arizona, to Van and Ida Laughlin.

On April 24, 1947, Mary K. married the love of her life, Hugh Vester Bowden, and together they built a family grounded in faith, devotion, and hard work. Mary K. was a lifelong, faithful servant of Jesus Christ, and her love for the Lord was evident in every part of her life. She spent many years teaching Sunday School at Fairacres Baptist Church and Hill Baptist Church in Las Cruces, New Mexico, where she lived for many years before moving to Vashti, Texas in 2000, and later to Colorado after Hugh’s passing in 2002.

Mary joyfully shared the Word of Christ with everyone she met and led many friends and family members to Jesus. Her life was a living testimony of grace, kindness, and unwavering faith. When asked how she wished to be remembered, she simply said, “I just want to leave a trail that leads others to Jesus.” She fulfilled that desire every day of her life, worshiping Jesus up to her very last breath. One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 23, which she carried close to her heart.

Mary K. was preceded in death by her beloved husband Hugh, her daughter Marilyn , her brothers Kenneth, Walter, and J.D., and her sisters Ethelyn, Margaret and Dorothy.

She is survived by her sister Elsie and her brother W.H. Jr. her daughter Kathie Warner and her husband Rick Warner, her son-in-law Tommy Thompson, and her grandchildren: Jed and Heidi Thompson, April Thompson, Matney Warner, Chase and Madison Warner, and Trey and Tresa Warner.

Mary K. leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Janea, Jaiven and his wife Darby, Lyric, Kiran, Tae and his wife Kaylah, Tommy Paul, Teigun, Jase, Cameron, Luna, Dahlia, Callahan, and Paisley. She is also survived by her great-great-grandchildren Emmitt and Isaura, as well as many cherished nieces and nephews.

During her years in Las Cruces, Mary K. was a devoted homemaker and later a business owner alongside her husband. She loved her family dearly and lived every day as a woman of Christ. It was always plain to see Jesus in everything she did.

A graveside service took place on September 2, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. in Vashti, Texas.

Mary K’s legacy of faith, love, and devotion will continue to shine through the generations she leaves behind.
