Janet Latimore Snell, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, was born on March 24, 1952, in Wadley, Georgia, to the late Harvey Latimore, Sr. and Gertrude Brown Latimore. She peacefully departed this life on September 3, 2026, at Wellstar MCG Health in Augusta, Georgia.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at Kingdom Life Fellowship Ministries, Wadley, GA Interment will be held in the Church Cemetery
Public viewing will be held Friday, Sept 11, 2026 at Davis Funeral Home from 3:00 to 6:00 P.M.
Janet was a proud native of Wadley, Georgia, and was a woman who cherished her family and the relationships she built throughout her life. She valued education and furthered her studies in Early Childhood Development at Swainsboro Technical College. She was also a proud graduate of Jefferson County High School, Class of 1970.
Janet had great work ethics and held different jobs from time to time at Thermo King Corp., Delilah Manufacturing, Forstmann Industries, Emanuel YDC, Pruitt Health Old Capital and as a Juvenile Correctional Officer at Bill E. Ireland Youth Detention Center, where she faithfully served in her profession. She was also a devoted member of Kingdom Life Fellowship, where she served faithfully with the Missionary Department. Her faith and willingness to serve others were an important part of who she was.
Janet found great joy in caring for others. She enjoyed cooking and cleaning for her family and church family, often showing her love through the things she did for those around her. She loved to sing, and her love of music brought joy to many. Janet also loved shopping and dressing to impress. She took pride in her appearance and enjoyed looking her very best.
Janet was united in marriage to Wesley Cleveland Snell.
Janet is preceded in death by her parents, and several sisters and brothers: Van Latimore Sr, Mildred Mckennie, Nellie Wilcher, Darlean Wilson, Ida Mae Wright, Harvey Latimore Jr, Katherine King, Morine Mitchell, Ernest Latimore Sr, P.W. Latimore.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her loving husband: Wesley Cleveland Snell; her beloved daughters: Vickie Atkinson of Louisville, Georgia, and Veronica Seafus of Sandersville, Georgia; her step-children: Latashia Carter, Ludowici, GA, Natashia Moore, Savannah, GA, Angela Heggs, Augusta, GA, Wesley Snell Jr, Smryna, GA, Adrian Snell, Louisville, GA, Chelsea Snell, Atlanta, GA; her grandchildren: who brought her great joy, Damion Thomas, Faith Thomas, Shekinah Seafus, and Aiden Seafus; great-grandchildren lovingly called her “Gigi”: whom she loved dearly Hunter Thomas, Hendrixx Thomas, Alayah Gibbons, August Gibbons, Za’Kyree Martin, and Braylen Gibbons; a brother: Willie Roy Latimore of Taunton, Massachusetts; her sister: Annie Laura Harmon (Ronnie) of Wadley, Georgia; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Margaret Latimore of Wadley, Georgia; Flora “Candy” Lodge of Wadley, Georgia, Pamela Walden (Robert “Hawk”) of Wadley, Georgia, Margaret Harrison of Cross N Green, Julia “Cookie” Howard (Willie) of Wadley, Georgia, and Carlos Williams of Wadley, Georgia; along with other relatives, extended family members, and dear friends.
Janet’s life was a blessing to all who knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her strong faith, loving heart, generous spirit, beautiful voice, love for family, dedication to her church, and the joy she brought to those around her. She had a way of making her presence known, whether through a home-cooked meal, a song, a helping hand, or simply the way she carried herself.
Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on through her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, friends, church family, and the many lives she touched. The love she gave and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who were blessed to know her.
