Funeral service for Ruthie Wallace, 89, of Opelika, AL, will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, September 14, 2026, at Greater Peace Missionary Baptist Church, 650 Jeter Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801 with interment in Evergreen Cemetery, 1409 Monroe Avenue, Opelika, AL, 36801, Reverend Clifford E. Jones will officiating, Reverend Jeffery Wright, Eulogist.

Mrs. Wallace, who passed away Friday, September 4, 2026 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center in Opelika, Alabama, was born August 14, 1937, in Lee County, Alabama.

Public viewing will be Sunday, September 13, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Mrs. Wallace will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to the service.

She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, Renza Wright of Opelika, AL; two sisters, Lucille (James) Bennett of Boston, MA and Nita Johnson of Holly Hill, SC; six grandchildren, Sheldon Scott of Columbus, GA, Tiffany (Crystal) Phillips of Auburn, AL, Kalandra Wallace of Camp Hill, AL, Shaquille Wallace of Opelika, AL, Jamal Washington and Taye Love both of Auburn, AL; thirteen great-grandchildren, Zykerria (Darrell) Adams of Fort Leonard Wood, MO, Shakir Scott of Fort Jackson, SC, Chanelle Scott of Columbus, GA, Tamarius Scott, Aiden Wallace, Aubrey Wallace, Austin Wallace, Ashton Wallace, Jayce Washington, Lamaj Washington, Landon Washington, Preston Tolbert and Amarie Clovis all of Auburn, AL; one great-great grandchild, Zaylaha Scott of Columbus, GA; bonus son, Jeffery (Cynthia) Edwards of Memphis, TN; daughter-in-law, Marshell Wallace of Camp Hill, AL; two sisters-in-law, Mary L.
