He is survived by his wife, Gloria Chestnut, New Bern, NC; four step-sons, Leander Herring Jr., Greensboro, NC, Roger Herring, Bayboro, NC, Antonio Ross, Winston Salem, NC and Kenneth Ross, Myrtle Beach, SC; one daughter, Roberta Horton, Aberdeen, NC; three sisters, Hattie Gamble, Willie Moore and Florine Chestnut, all of Columbia, SC; fourteen grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
