William Thomas Adams Sr., affectionately known as "Pumpkin," passed away peacefully in Nashville, Tennessee, on September 14, 2026, at the age of 76.

William was born on January 6, 1950, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Sam Adams and Mattie Lou Moore Adams. He was raised in Nashville and received his education through Metro Nashville Public Schools.

William proudly served his country in the United States Army's Quartermaster Corps. After completing his military service, he dedicated many years of faithful service to St. Thomas West Midtown in Nashville, Tennessee, where he worked until his retirement.

Pumpkin was truly one of a kind. He loved people, loved to laugh, and never met a stranger. He was outspoken, enjoyed talking mess, and always knew how to keep a conversation going. His humor, honesty, and loving spirit made everyone around him feel welcomed and loved. His presence could brighten any room, and those who knew him will never forget his unforgettable personality.

William was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan who enjoyed cheering for his favorite team.

William was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Adams and Mattie Lou Moore Adams; his daughter, Rochelle Moore; and his siblings, Samuel Adams, Mary Ann Scott-Wynn, Barbara Jean Dobson, James Adams, and Mattie Cheatham.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Renae Adams; his children, Mary Deatrice Moore and William Thomas Adams Jr.; his stepchildren, Ishi "Whizzy" Coward, Jonathan "Colby" Coward, and Reginald Beavers; his siblings, Sam Adams Jr. (Pam), Anthony Adams, Alfonza Adams, Curtis Adams (Norma), and Deborah Faye Adams; and the spouses of his departed siblings, Helen, John, James, and Ernest.

He also leaves to cherish his memory his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, friends, and loved ones. Among those who held a special place in his heart were Susie "Sirdonis," Charlie, and Jerral.

Although Pumpkin is no longer physically present, his laughter, loving heart, bold personality, and unforgettable conversations will remain forever in the hearts of everyone whose life he touched.
