Karen Marguerite Brown Cobb was the daughter of the late Sarah Jane Brown and the granddaughter of the late Mattie Thompson. After their passing, Viola Stokes Prichett raised Karen as one of her daughters.
Karen was raised in Steelton, PA and was a 1972 graduate of Steelton-Highspire High School, the mighty Rollers. After graduation, she attended Harrisburg Area Community College. Karen retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Education, with over 30 years of service. Karen also owned and operated a day care and worked with the Steelton Highspire Elementary School.
She was an avid singer and sang in various church choirs and local gospel groups. She even had the opportunity to sing with her daughter, Radiah in a former group “A Fresh Wind”. Karen enjoyed canning vegetables that her husband grew in the family garden. One of Karen’s most enjoyable ways to invest her time was to spend it with her family and saving money through the family coupon system with the help of her daughters and husband. Karen loved shopping.
Karen spiritually prepared her daughters each and every day by having them recite Romans 12:1,2 Ephesians 6:10-18 and 2nd Corinthians 10:3-5, which they memorized. This was called the spiritual armor. Those scriptures became a foundation for their lives. As we mourn the loss of Karen Cobb, we also celebrate the life beautifully lived and tremendous impact she had on so many people and her spiritual journey that allowed her to share the unconditional love she had for others. Her spiritual journey brought her to the love of YAH.
She went home to glory on October 22, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Karen was preceded in death by her foster mother, Viola Stokes Prichett and foster siblings, Elaine Ogden, Joseph Andrew Stokes, Arthur Lee Stokes, Gwendolyn Prichett Savage and Darryl (Butch) Pritchett.
She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Levester Cobb, Jr. (June); her three daughters, Radiah Cobb Williams (LauVarre), Monica Cobb Beasley and Jessica Cobb; foster siblings, Walter Edward Stokes and Audrey Stokes Roberts; nine grandchildren; one great grandson and a host of other relatives, extended family and friends.
