Akilah was born in Milwaukee and spent much of her childhood there and in Maryland. In her adult years, she began a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). She had recently been accepted into college to pursue nursing and had many aspirations for her future in the field.

Akilah McGowan was born on November 2, 1999, and passed away on October 14, 2026, at the age of 26. She was predeceased by her mother, Nicole Witt, and her father, Joseph McGowan. She leaves behind her sisters, brothers, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, who will cherish her memory and hold her in their hearts forever.

Akilah had a huge heart and could light up any room she walked into. She loved fashion and all things related to beauty. She always knew how to make people laugh, no matter the circumstances. She was a funny, loving, and passionate person who touched the lives of those around her and will be dearly missed. Rest in Heaven, Akilah. You will forever be loved and never forgotten.
