With hearts surrendered to God’s perfect will, we announce that Mrs. Movia Elaine Miller has graciously accepted Heaven’s invitation and entered into eternal rest on Friday, October 30, 2026. Having completed her earthly journey, she now rejoices in the everlasting presence of the Lord, where pain is no more and peace is everlasting.
Celebration of Life will be 11:00 AM, Monday, November 9, 2026, at Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 224 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, with burial at the Tallahassee National Cemetery. Viewing/Visitation will be 1pm - 4pm, Sunday, Nov. 8, 2026 at Strong & Jones Funeral Home.
Movia graduated from Cocoa Beach High School in 1968 and continued her educational journey at the illustrious Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), where she earned degrees in English Literature and English Language/Creative Writing in 1972.
It was during her years at FAMU that Movia truly blossomed into the beloved “social butterfly” so many came to know and love. With her infectious personality, welcoming spirit, and genuine interest in others, she formed friendships that would endure for more than five decades. These were more than college friendships; they became lifelong bonds of sisterhood, brotherhood, and extended family. Through the years, Movia treasured these relationships, creating countless memories filled with laughter, fellowship, and unwavering affection.
Professionally, Movia dedicated 13 years of service to the Florida Department of Forestry before beginning a new chapter with the Florida Legislature, where she served faithfully for 25 years until her retirement. Throughout her career, she was known for her dedication, strong relationships, and ability to bring warmth and personality into every environment.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories her beloved daughter, Mikael (Mykey) Stevens, and son-in-law, Larry Taz Stevens; her cherished granddaughter, Mykenzie Rose Stevens; and her loving sisters, Kathy Mays of the Bronx, New York; Arlene Vickers (Fabian) of Bradenton, Florida; Avis Joyner Westbrooks of Orlando, Florida; and Mary Nell Mays of Jacksonville, Florida and a host of godchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, colleagues, and friends.
Movia Elaine Miller lived a life defined by love, friendship, generosity, and joy. She never needed a special occasion to celebrate the people she loved, because to Movia, the relationships themselves were always worth celebrating.
Rest peacefully, Movia. Your love lives on, your friendships endure, and your beautiful legacy will never be forgotten.
The management and staff of Strong & Jones Funeral Home extend our heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to the family and loved ones of Mrs. Movia E. Miller. May God surround you with His love, comfort your hearts, and grant you strength and peace during this time of bereavement.
