Jon Maurice Watkins was born on October 29, 1981, in Wurzburg, Germany to Christopher Watkins and Veronica Crowell. He gained his wings peacefully on January 23, 2024, at his home in Columbia, South Carolina.
Jon was a graduate of Dreher High School class of 1999. He was baptized at an early age. Jon was the Philadelphia Eagles’ number one fan. As a huge lover of sports, he was often found playing basketball at local gyms. Most of all, he loved his family.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Deacon Charles and Mildred Watkins,
his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence and Lottie Gray, and his maternal aunt, Denise Watkins.
He leaves to cherish his memory are: his parents, Christopher (Lisa) Watkins and Veronica (David) Crowell; two sons, Dejon Watkins and JeNoah Watkins; one daughter, Londyn Watkins; aunts, Jean Watkins and Kim Watkins; one uncle, Norman (Wanda) Minto; his cousins, who were more like siblings, Shanetria Watkins, Samaria Jumper, and Shomar Richardson; his loving partner of 21 years, Lanota Graham; bonus children, Jhira Ladson, Jamir Ladson, Raven Ladson, and Rodney Brown Jr. and a host of other loving relatives who will truly miss him.
Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home Sullivan Chapel, 6400 North Main Street, Columbia, South Carolina 29203.
Public viewing will be held from 12 noon until 6:00 p.m., Monday, January 29, 2024, and from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service, Tuesday, January 30, 2024, at A. A. Dicks Funeral Home.
