Anthony was born on May 3, 1960, in Atlanta, Georgia, the fifth of ten children to the late Freddie Lee Ashley Sr. and Helen Finch Ashley. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School, where he formed lifelong friendships and began to show the kind and generous spirit that would come to define his life.
At an early age, Anthony became a member of Friendship Baptist Church and later joined Mt. Ephraim Baptist Church, remaining rooted in his faith throughout his life.
A hardworking man who was never without a job, Anthony began working at the age of 14 at the local corner store, a job that sparked his strong work ethic and sense of responsibility. After graduating high school, he entered the workforce full-time and was known for his unwavering dedication. For over 30 years, he worked as a cook and head cook at various Church’s Chicken locations, sharing his culinary talents and warm spirit with every meal he prepared. He also worked as a Master Grill Cook for more than 15 years with Eurest Dining Services, a division of Compass Group.
Anthony loved people, and people loved him. Known for his sharp sense of style, he took great pride in his appearance and had a natural eye for fashion. A diehard fan of Atlanta’s sports teams, he cheered them on with unmatched passion and pride. Above all, Anthony was devoted to his family—who meant the world to him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and love that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

To the Family of Anthony Ashley, you guys have my heart filled condolences during this difficult time. Anthony worked for me for over 15 years, we instantly became family. What I loved most about him was he were a very nice young man, our customers at Macy's and McKesson were crazy about him. Anthony believed in customer service and most of his customers only wanted him to prepare their meal, he loved people and they loved him. The last time I communicated with him was in March, when I sent him a video of one of my friends saying old hymns, the titled were Trouble Don't Last Always; maybe God was trying to tell me something. Rest in peace my big brother you will be missed❤️❤️😘😘😭😭😭

I pray that God will give you and your family the strength needed to get past the grief you feel now. Grief is the price of love. Let the memories of your brother serve as a source of comfort to your heart, Breathe and remember to take one day at a time. Brenda Bentley-Parrish

I will miss the good morning, I love you, have a blessed day messages and the debates we would have about the Atlanta Falcons. His spirit and the memories we shared will be with me always.
