I met Emerson J. Winfield, Jr. in 2004 at Hoosier United Methodist Church. I knew right from the start that he loved the Lord. Naturally, he loved his fellow man: his family, his friends, his neighbors, his co-workers, and his church family; but, the ultimate love of his life was the Lord and that's what I loved about him most.

His life was defined by a quiet grace, unwavering devotion to serve the Lord, and a profound desire to reflect the love of the Lord in all of his actions as a partner, a friend, a family member, a neighbor, a co-worker, a church member and as a spiritual leader.

His spiritual impact echoes in the countless lives he touched and uplifted in his 93 years of life. Emerson has left a lasting legacy of love, faith, integrity and selflessness. I loved him so much and words cannot express how much I will miss him. Mary B. Kemp
