In Loving Memory of Dr. Georgia "Dr. P" Persons

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my deepest condolences on the passing of Dr. Georgia Persons, affectionately known to so many of us as "Dr. P."

Dr. P was far more than my professor at Howard University—she was family. She knew my parents, cared for me as though I were one of her own children, and made sure I always knew I had someone in my corner. Her kindness, wisdom, and unwavering support helped shape not only my education but also the woman I have become.

I will always be grateful for the love, encouragement, and guidance she so freely gave. She exemplified what it meant to be an educator, a mentor, and a servant leader. Her influence reached far beyond the classroom, touching countless lives with grace, compassion, and excellence.

Thank you, Dr. P, for believing in me, for nurturing me, and for loving me. Your legacy will continue to live on through the many students whose lives you transformed, including mine.

May God grant comfort and peace to her family, friends, colleagues, and the countless Howard University students who were blessed to know her. She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Our journey began at Georgia Tech - meeting Dr. Georgia Persons, the seasoned professor; me, the staffer in the President's office (1991-97). I celebrated and adored her & Dororthy Yancey - both forces of nature!! A lifetime friendship/sisterhood was then forged in respect, in love.

My heart is broken; reconciling a 30+ year relationship has come to an end, regretting that last missed call, that last email I failed to respond to, but most of all, not having had the chance to bid her farewell. I will miss Georgia Persons immensely, but will also celebrate a beautiful life well lived, a beautiful life well loved!! Rest well in reward, my dear sister, Soror, friend. Love you always... Until we meet again...

Georgia was our wonderful neighbor & friend @ Fort Lincoln/Hillside in Wash DC from 1979 until her move to Atlanta. I maintained a close relationship with her and know that she is resting in PEACE. Neighbors in DC Betty Scott, Ron& late Betty Taylor & Jackie & Bryant Pegram

Georgia was our neighbor from 2009-2021 until we moved. She was always a pleasure to talk to. From the first time we met her, she always showed a caring heart. She will be greatly missed. Not only a neighbor, but a great friend.

May your precious soul rest in eternal peace. I love you.
