Iris was born October 26, 1960 to the late Earnest and Mary Nell Hartwell Sr. She lived in New Orleans, Louisiana until 2019, when she decided to relocate to Riverdale, Georgia. The move to Georgia allowed Iris to be surrounded by her loving family. Iris attended Kohn High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. She began serving her community by working for New Orleans School Board as a food technician for over 20 years. Iris loved being a part of the school system by ensuring every child had something to eat. Her smile was the start of many children's lives while serving them daily. She had a passion for cooking, drawing, designing her own clothes and dancing. Iris attended Solid Rock Pentecostal Church. Iris spent countless days and hours nurturing her nieces and nephews on family values. She wanted to make sure her family had as much history of her parents family tree. The love she poured into all of her nieces and nephews will live forever in their hearts. Iris will be truly missed by her family. She leaves her memories in the hearts of her siblings, Angela (James) Tate, Robin Givens, Linda Pittman and Ernest (Antoinette) Hartwell Jr. The love for her Godson Reginald Givens Jr. Iris' love will be in the hearts of her aunts Lettie Hartwell, Annie Ree Evans; uncles Calvin Hartwell and Clarence Hartwell. She leaves so many memories in the hearts of her nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews and many cousins and friends.
