Reflections of Life
Johnny B. Batten
OBITUARY
Johnny B. Batten was born on October 21, 1951, in Albany, Georgia, to the late Rossie Sr. and Pearlie Mae Batten. He graduated from Monroe High School. Following graduation, Johnny served in the Army.
After his military service, Johnny embarked on a professional musical career in the entertainment industry as a bass guitarist. Music remained one of his greatest passions throughout his life. He faithfully used his musical gifts in Christian ministry, sharing his talent and love for worship through his bass guitar.
Johnny was affectionately known as a "Jack of All Trades" because of his exceptional skills in construction, maintenance, and plumbing. His strong work ethic and dedication led him to a career with CWS Apartment Homes, where he was respected for his craftsmanship and reliability.
Johnny was known for his kindness, generosity, and hardworking spirit. He enjoyed playing his bass guitar, cooking, fishing, grilling, and spending precious time with his grandchildren. His warm smile, gracious heart, and unwavering love for his family will forever be cherished.
Johnny professed his faith in Jesus Christ and faithfully served through music ministry at Greater Leavy Missionary Baptist Church. On June 10, 2026, Johnny transitioned from labor to reward and entered eternal rest.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rossie Sr. and Pearlie Mae Batten; and his brothers, Rossie Batten Jr., Robert Batten, and Russie Batten.
Cherishing his precious memories will be everlasting in the hearts of his wife, Veronica Cummings whom they shared 34 years of life together. His beloved children, Glecia Batten-Carter (Curtis), Bisa Batten Lewis, Estra Batten-Douglas (De’Angelo), Johnny Gilbert (Shakneeka), Timothy Batten, Nukemar Batten Sr., Nate Esau Batten, Veronica Cummings, Curtis Cummings, Dominic Cummings and Shatavia Wyche. His brother, Norman Batten Sr. (Bobbie), and a host of brothers, sisters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and dear friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.
Though Johnny's earthly journey has ended, his legacy of faith, love, service, and music will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know him.
