Obituary For Clara Williams

Private funeral services for Clara Williams, 68, of 396 Jackson Street Allendale, SC were held at 1:00 pm December 26, 2020 at Beautiful Gate Baptist Church with Reverend Gilbert Hill officiating.

Mrs. Clara Holmes Williams, aka “Wilds” was born in Allendale on September 2, 1952 to the late Charles Holmes, Sr. and the late Lela M. Holmes.

At an early age, she joined and was baptized at Beautiful Gate Baptist Church in Allendale, South Carolina. She attended and graduated from CV Bing School in Allendale, SC. She worked as a secretary at the University of South Carolina - Salkehatchie for many years. She was married to the late Joseph L. Williams for 44 years.

Clara passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Charlotte, NC.

She is preceded in death by two sisters, Rose Marie Holmes, Joe Ann Butler; and two grandchildren.

She leaves to cherish her fond memories: three daughters, Cassandra Williams of Allendale, SC, Charessa (Orlando) Vaughn and Commaletta Williams of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Clarissa(Walter) Lee of Hephzibah, GA and Georgia Holmes of Allendale, SC; two brothers, Charles Holmes, Jr. and Joe Nathan (Marilyn) Holmes of Allendale, SC; four brothers-in-law, Jasper (Maryann) White, Sr., and Jacob (Maryann) White of Allendale, SC, Esaw (Jeanette) White of Springfield, MA and Cleveland Frank Williams, Jr. of New Orleans, LA; eight sisters-in-law, Elouise Dickerson, Geraldine Cohen, Nancy Jefferson and Janie Williams of Allendale, SC, Helen (Abraham) Holmes of Clyo, GA, Pauline Hampton, Corinne (Moses) Laury of New York, NY and Mattie Dopson of New Ellenton, SC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sympathizing friends.

There will be no public viewing.

Friends may call at the residence of her sister, Georgia Holmes at 385 Jones Street, Allendale. You must wear a mask to visit residence.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to Allendale Community Funeral Home for funeral expenses.
