Funeral services for Mr. Verdell Aiken Jr., 68, of 312 Ellis Street Allendale, SC will be private due to the COVID -19 precautions regarding social distancing. Burial will follow in Mt Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Martin, SC.
Mr. Verdell Benjamin Aiken Jr., was born in Allendale County, South Carolina on October 9, 1952 to the late Verdell Benjamin Aiken Sr. and Angelee Singleton Aiken-Dix.
At an early age, he joined the Mt. Hope Baptist Church in Martin, South Carolina and was later baptized under the leadership of Reverend W.H. Bush. He was educated in the public schools of Allendale County.
He entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at Aiken Regional Medical Center in Aiken, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lexie Aiken.
He leaves to cherish his fond memories, his children: Lesia Aiken-Sanders of Pooler, GA, Vermell Priester-Arline and Linda Priester both of Goose Creek, SC, Kanovia Smith and Kavia Smith both of Allendale, SC; his mother, Angelee Singleton Aiken-Dix of Allendale, SC; one sister, Viola Aiken-Thomas of Bamberg, SC; raised as brothers, Jimmie Singleton of Allendale, SC; one uncle, Rev. Lexie (Mary) Aiken of Savannah, GA; two nieces: Terri Thomas-Jennings of Orangeburg, SC and Sabrina Thomas-Bowmans of Bamberg, SC; one nephew, Samuel Thomas Jr. of Bamberg, SC; two close friends: Emmanuel Washington and Benny Gordon Jr.; friend of the family, Connie Smith; 17 grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a host other loving relatives and dear friends.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 11, 2020 from 4-6 p.m.
