Obituary For Dr. Charvis "Runt" Buckholts

With profound sadness and heartfelt sympathy, we announce the passing of Dr. Charvis Buckholts, 37, of Morrow, Georgia, who departed this life on June 6, 2026.

Celebration of Life for Dr. Charvis Buckholts will be held Saturday, June 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the Dooly County High School Gymnasium, in Vienna GA.

With hearts full of gratitude for a life that left a lasting impression on so many, we reflect on the early years of Dr. Charvis Bartelle “Runt” Buckholts, whose journey on Earth began on November 28, 1988, in Perry, Georgia, as the beloved son of Theresa Outlaw Buckholts and Charlie B. Buckholts, Sr. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Roosevelt (Elnora) Buckholts, Sr. and Freddie B. (Earner) Outlaw.

Faith and fellowship remained meaningful and sustaining pillars throughout Charvis’s life. He professed his faith in Christ at an early age and remained steadfast in his spiritual walk throughout his life. He was a devoted member of Church of Life in Atlanta, Georgia, where he faithfully served as the Director of Youth and Young Adults for two years, encouraging spiritual growth, fostering community, and positively influencing the lives of those entrusted to his care.

At the center of Charvis’s life was an unwavering love for family and a deep appreciation for the relationships that shaped and sustained him. He understood that family extended beyond shared names; it was expressed through presence, encouragement, loyalty, and the countless ways he showed up for those he loved.

In addition to his parents, Charvis leaves to cherish and honor his memory, his beloved brothers, Corey Buckholts (Sheila), Decatur, Georgia, Rodrekus Buckholts (Michelle), Vienna, Georgia, Charlie B. Buckholts, Jr. (Chimere), Jackson, Georgia, Chartavious Thomas, Unadilla, Georgia, Gregory Pruitt (Kendrell), Vienna, Georgia, Stacey Manning (Suzie), Decatur, Georgia, Owen Malone (Sharon), Atlanta, Georgia, and Eric Bryant, Drayton, Georgia; his loving sister, Vera Lisa Thomas, Unadilla, Georgia; aunts, Shellie Goolsby and Kimberly Taylor, Pinehurst, Georgia, Priscilla Bunley (Darryl), Perry, Georgia, Ellen Jean Towns, Forest Park, Georgia, Margie Nell Buckholts, Jonesboro, Georgia, and Debra Ann McIntosh, Virginia Beach, Virginia; uncles, Roosevelt Buckholts (Brenda), Elko, Georgia, and Timothy Buckholts (Dorothy), Albany, Georgia; great aunts, Ida Ruth Baker, Orlando, Florida, Mary Buckles, Mildred Efford, Dellia Roundtree, all of Warner Robins, Georgia, Rosa Rice, Henderson, Georgia, and Bernice Williams, of California; great uncles, Leon Buckles, Unadilla, Georgia; godmother, Bernice Butler Crapp, Cordele, Georgia; goddaughter, Kai Butler, Forest Park, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and many sorrowing friends to include, Amber Clifton, Forest Park, Georgia; and Dr. Dantavious Hicks, Chicago, Illinois.

Heavenly Father,

Today we remember and honor a remarkable young man whose life touched so many hearts. Thank You for the love, leadership, kindness, and strength he shared with his family, friends, and community. Though his time with us feels far too short, the impact of his life will never be forgotten.

Lord, comfort his family and friends during this season of grief. Surround them with Your peace, strength, and unfailing love. Help them find comfort in the precious memories they shared and in knowing that his legacy of love, faith, and leadership lives on through those he inspired.

May his example continue to encourage others to love deeply, lead with integrity, and cherish the people around them. Grant rest to his soul and healing to all who mourn his loss.

I worked with Charvis summer of 2012 at Camp Best Friends. He made a huge impact on my life and the staff and especially children he met. I didn't even know he kept in touch with some of the "at risk" kids to display positive leadership in their lives. Not only was he there emotionally but financially as I have personally witnessed him purchase school uniforms for high school children who were capable of employment but still did not have the means. Charvis and me planned to become "socialites" that summer. We "upgraded" our wardrobe with the thrift stores' finest for me lol. He had the fanciest clean car I had ever seen at that point (it was clean and had coool air). He introduced me to CamiCakes and much more. He was there for my family when we had a minor emergency. Charvis was truly too good for all that he did for others.
