Obituary For Mr. John Willis Taylor

Mr. John Willis Taylor 66, of Kathleen GA entered into eternal rest on Friday August 4,2023.

Funeral Services for Mr. John Willis Taylor 66, of Kathleen GA will be held Saturday August 12,2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the Brown Chapel Baptist Church in Unadilla, GA. Interment in the Evergreen Cemetery, Unadilla GA.

Mr. John Willis Taylor was born August 9, 1956, in Dooly County, Georgia, to the late Grady Taylor and Lillie Mae Davis Taylor. On Friday, August 4, 2023, John peacefully passed away at his home in Kathleen, Georgia, surrounded by his loved ones. John was educated in the Dooly County school system and graduated with the class of 1974. John joined the Brown Chapel Baptist Church at an early age. At the age of nineteen, John joined the U.S. Army and served his country in this capacity from December 1978 through June 1986. He served two tours in Germany and was deployed to Virginia, Hawaii, Texas, and Georgia. He later joined the National Guard and Reserved of Georgia and served four years. John was proud to have served his country. In 2008, John took an oath of office to protect the public’s health from food born hazards and intentional harm with the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service, where he served fifteen years for a total of twenty-five years of federal service. John received many accolades while working with FSIS including Superior Performance Ratings to Outstanding Performance Ratings, and a 20-Year Service Award. John was a great cook. He enjoyed cooking inside his home and cooking wildlife outside on the grill. John lived a quiet a peaceful life in his home with his wife. He instilled in the young men and women around him the value of being dependable and hardworking. He showed a great love and concern for the wellbeing of his nieces and nephews. Later in life, John met Ms. Lee Ola Toombs and the two were united in Holy Matrimony on February 2, 2007. John leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of sixteen years; two biological daughters, Jamillah Taylor and Asia Taylor; two daughters, Cheryl Denise Tatum (Derrick) of Gainesville, GA, and LaStacia Jenee Calhoun of Macon, GA; three sons, Travis Calhoun of Kathleen and Semario Calhoun and Ed McDougal both of Vienna, GA; grandchildren, Demarium, Te’Nariyah, Jayven, DeKauri, Aubrianna, Aubrielle, and Jaxcen; five loving and supportive brothers, Charles (Rosa) Taylor of Unadilla, GA, Kenneth (Bernice) Taylor of Unadilla, GA, Gary (Monica) Taylor of Vienna, Jonathan Taylor, and Jack Felder of Philadelphia, PA; a loving and supportive sister, Leona (Damon) Brittany of Atlanta, GA; father-in-law, Mr. Hollis Edward Toombs, Sr., of Camilla, GA; sister-inlaw, Patricia Grant of Albany, GA; brothers-in-law, Larry Lee Randell of Warner Robins, GA, Isaac Lamar Randell (Felicia) of Jacksonville, FL, Minister Ernest Randell (Faye) of Albany, GA, and Eddie Fluellen of Unadilla, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and best friends including Alonzo Williams, Larry Fluellen, Barbara Fluellen, and Brenda Fluellen. He was preceded in death by several siblings, Johnnie Bell Joseph, Sakeitha Taylor, Patricia Manning, and Margaret Fluellen.
