Mr. McARTHUR LAWSON was born on February 15, 1946, in Vienna, Georgia, to the late David and Nancy P. Chaney Lawson of Unadilla, Georgia. He was a 1964 graduate of Vienna Industrial High School. Mac, as he was affectionately called, later moved to New Jersey where he excelled and matriculated in the workforce. He would later move back to Unadilla to provide support to his family. In 1985, Mac married Julia Balom Lawson. For years, he was employed at K-Mart in Perry, Georgia. Because of his hard work and conscientiousness, he became the processing center manager until his health failed. However, his tenacity for hard work led him to become an entrepreneur along with his brothers in the agriculture industry. On the morning of July 1, 2022, Mac departed this earthly life at Piedmont Macon North Hospital in Macon, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Nancy P. Lawson; paternal grandparents, Randall and Aline Lawson; maternal grandparents, Henry and Adelaide Chaney; and six siblings, Sonny Lawson, Janice Washington, Larry Lawson, Raymond Lawson, Sydney Lawson, and David Earl Lawson. His memory will be forever cherished by: his caring and devoted wife, Julia B. Lawson; children, Nancy (Dale) Bryant of Elko, GA, Reginald Balom of Miami, FL, and Rhonda (John) Irving, of San Diego, CA; grandchildren, Nakevius “DJ” Bryant, Nakari Bryant, Anastasia (Micah) Brodi, Alexander Balom, Adrian Balom, Jada Irving, and John Irving; great-grandchildren, Zoe, Zion, and Amir; six brothers, William Lawson of Unadilla, GA, Albert Lawson of Macon, GA, Eddie Charles (Shanta) Lawson of Macon, GA, Hamp (Ora) Batton of Hawkinsville, GA, Davis Holt, Jr., of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Leon Nelson of Hawkinsville, GA; three sisters, Patricia M. Bonds Dwight of Macon, GA, Andrea Lynn Fruitrail of Hawkinsville, GA, and Kathy (Kenny) Williams of Albany, GA; special godchildren, Tammy Adkison, Nina Williams and Timothy Hicks; Sisters -inlaw, Johnnie Armstong, Rochelle Georgia, Ophelia (Timothy) Young, all of Miami, Florida; three devoted cousins, Geraldine Ervin, Willie Mae Anderson, and Carolyn Foster; a dear friend, Mike Hoskins; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other family and friends
Funeral services for Mr. McArthur Lawson 76, of Unadilla, will be held Saturday, July 9, 2022, at 12:00 noon at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Unadilla Georgia. Interment Mt. Moriah Baptist Church cemetery.
