Mr. William Lawson 81, of Orlando Florida , formally of Dooly County entered into eternal rest on Monday August 8, 2022.
Funeral Services for Mr. William Lawson 81 will be Saturday August 20, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Dooly K-8 Gymnasium Pinehurst, GA. Interment Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, Unadilla GA.
William Curling Lawson was born on May 24, 1941, to the late David and Nancy P. Chaney Lawson of Unadilla, Georgia. He attended the Dooly County school system. He became a member of the Mount Moriah Baptist Church at an early age, and he sang in the church choir until he relocated to Orlando, Florida. William Curling Lawson and Mae Belle Engram joined in holy matrimony on January 5, 1972, in Orlando, Florida, and they were united for 17 years until her death. Their union was blessed with three daughters. William became an Orange Grove contractor for 20 years and worked for the Orlando Board of Education as a contractor for several years. Later, after coming back to Georgia, he reunited with his church home and served faithfully on the Board of Trustees until his illness. He was a successful and skillful entrepreneur as a contractor of Lawson Construction for 32 years. William enjoyed working on the farm and thus retired as a farmer of E. L. Farms after 29 years. He was known for growing the sweetest sugar cane and producing the best sugar cane syrup in middle Georgia. On the morning of August 8, 2022, Buddy departed this earthly life. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Belle Lawson; parents, David and Nancy P. Lawson; paternal grandparents, Randall and Aline Lawson; maternal grandparents, Henry and Adelaide Chaney; and seven siblings, Sonny Lawson, Janice Washington, Larry Lawson, Raymond Lawson, Sydney Lawson, David Earl Lawson, and McArthur Lawson. William leaves to celebrate his life: six children, Mr. Charles D. (Cynthia) Lawson of Rochester, NY, Mr. Ronald C. (Sukjin) Lawson of San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Ursula Y. (Alban) Harp of Winter Garden, FL, and Mrs. Erika C. (Anthony) Lawson-Ellis, Ms. LaRonda D. Lawson, and Ms. Falonda L. Lawson, all of Orlando, FL; twenty-nine grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; five brothers, Albert Lawson of Macon, GA, Eddie Charles (Shanta) Lawson of Macon, GA, Hamp (Ora) Batton of Hawkinsville, GA, Davis Holt, Jr., of Lake Elsinore, CA, and Leon Nelson of Hawkinsville, GA; three sisters, Patricia M. Bonds Dwight of Macon, GA, Andrea Lynn Fruitrail of Hawkinsville, GA, and Kathy (Kenny) Williams of Albany, GA; brother-in-law, Mr. George (Susie) Engram of Orlando, FL; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Evelyn Sims of Orlando, FL, and Mrs. Debra (Tony) Reed of Dalton, FL; Godchildren, Rose Taylor, Billy Grace (Laura), Cynthia Perry (Calvin), Sharon Grace, Marilyn Grace, and Barbara Watkins (Richard); special family that assisted, Raymond Evans, Billy Grace, Vera Burks, Patricia Johnson, Luther and Eva Lou Chaney, Mary Benjamin, and Marilyn Grace; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Alvina Lewis; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family, and friends.
