Ms. Shirley “James” Woodson 82, of Vienna GA entered into eternal rest on Wednesday February 26 2025.
Graveside Services for Mrs. Shirley ''James'' Woodson 82, of Vienna GA will be held Saturday March 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church Cemetery , Pinehurst GA.
On Wednesday, February 26, 2025, our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and community friend were called to rest. Mrs. Shirley James Woodson was born on July 1, 1942, in Jones County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Rosie Mae Cooper and Frank James.
At an early age she joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and later she joined the Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and was an Usher for many years. She was joined in Holy Matrimony to Reed “Diggy” Woodson Jr. in 1963. To this union six children were born: Shirleyane James of Warner Robins, Georgia, Timothy Woodson Sr. (Vantressa) of Warner Robins, Ga, Travis Woodson of Vienna, Georgia (preceded in death), Tyrone Woodson (Carolyn) of Dawson, Georgia, Shamondra Woodson (Anthony) of Dawson, Georgia, and Reed Woodson (Ilica) of Elko, Georgia.
She was preceded in death by her late husband Reed “Diggy” Woodson Jr., three devoted brothers, Eugene Cooper of Gordon, Georgia, Frank Cooper of Hawkinsville, Georgia, and Joe James of Unadilla, Georgia. She was preceded in death by four sister Chtery James Byrant of Hawkinsville, Georgia, Odesse Rivers, Hattie Mae Bunkley, and Virginia Bivins all of Gordon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren and one great grand-child and one daughter-in-law. She also leaves to cherish her memories 28 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, One sister-in-law, Bertha Woodson and one brotherin-law Joshua Woodson Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and sorrowing friends.
