Funeral Services for Sister Odessa Sheffield 88, of Unadilla GA will be held Saturday November 16, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, Unadilla GA. Interment in the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church Cemetery Unadilla, GA.
On November 8, 2024, God called Mrs. Odessa Sheffield home at Montezuma Rehabilitation Center, Montezuma, Georgia. She was born August 7, 1936, in Lily, Georgia, to the union of Willie Miller and Mary Frances Lawson.
At an early age she confessed Christ as her savior and joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Unadilla, Georgia. She attended the Dooly County public school system. She later moved to Vienna, Georgia, and worked in the high school cafeteria as a
cook for 31 years. Odessa enjoyed baking cakes and serving the community as one of her hobbies.
Odessa was preceded in death by her husband, the late Mr. Charlie B. Sheffield; father, Willie Miller Lawson; mother, Mary Frances Lawson; five brothers, Willie B. Lawson, Arthur Lawson, Willie James Lawson, Charlie Lawson, and Willie Miller Lawson, Jr.;
and one sister, Dora Cannie.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Clifford Sheffield of Valdosta, Georgia; three grandkids, Kanika Sheffield, Darius (Danielle) Sheffield, and Javari Lester, all of Valdosta, Georgia; four great-grandchildren, Damari Sheffield, Khamron Sheffield,
Allison Handy, and Ella Evans; one great-great-grandchild, Kamdyn Green; five sisters, Susie L. Henry, Viola L. Adams, and Mae Dorothy (Dr. Franklin Jordan, Sr.), all of Unadilla, Georgia, Virgie Talley of Macon, Georgia, and Mary Helen Bizzell of Linden, New Jersey; one brother-in-law, Theodore Cannie of Macon, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Rosa L. Lawson
of Unadilla, Georgia, Margaret Lawson of Macon, Georgia, and Edna Ruth Lawson of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and many sorrowing friends.
