Caroline Coppage Brown (73) passed away Friday, January 14th after a vehement battle with cancer. She was a mother of four children; predeceased Marion (Trey) Daniels Brown III and survived by her son Ashley Brown (wife Amy), daughter Megan Howard (husband Tim), and son Kevin Brown. She was a grandmother “nani”, to Brittany Miller (husband Levi), Danielle Brown, Aden Howard, and Ashlyn Howard, and a great-grandmother to three.
Caroline was born and raised in New Bern, North Carolina to Dr. Dudley Ross Coppage (deceased) and Cassie Cowell Coppage along with her four siblings; Merry Ann Coppage, Susan Perritt (husband Lytton), Sandra Faulkner (husband Bobby (deceased)), and Ross Coppage (wife Wanda). Upon graduating from New Bern High School in 1966, she attended Atlantic Christen College and graduated with double bachelor’s degrees in mathematics and science in 1969. She would later earn a master’s degree in library science from North Carolina Central University. In addition to raising her family, Caroline fostered a career in education that spanned thirty years, many subjects, and all age groups. She worked in Lee, Craven and Chatham county schools before happily retiring as the Media Specialists for Moncure Elementary School in 2010.
In lieu of flowers, please honor her by planting a tree or shrub as she was a big advocate of sustainability.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
