Obituary For Christopher Calvin Jones

Christopher “Chris” Calvin Jones, 75, of Durham, passed away peacefully at his home on October 12, 2026. He was born on January 28, 1951, in Johnston County to the late Hubert Calvin Jones and Norma Lee Holt.

Christopher was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Jane Parker; his beloved daughters, Linda Michelle Jones, who was lost at birth, and Tina Jones Hurley; and his brothers, Ray Webster, Danny Lee Jones, and Donald Wayne Jones; and the family pets, dogs Dro, Duke, Crash, and Baby Girl, and cat Zipper.

Chris leaves behind his devoted wife, Pamela Belcher Jones; his daughter, Dane Lynn Jones (Floyd); his cherished grandsons, Charles “Scooter” Rigsbee (Faren), Christopher “Bubba” Rigsbee (Jennifer), and Lucas Hurley; and his beloved great-grandchildren, Harper, Little Charles, Nayvee, Elizabeth, Elana, Jase, and Jaxon. They will forever cherish the memories they shared with him and hold his love close to their hearts.

He is also survived by his brothers, Hubert “Pete” Jones, Gary Jones, and Adam Riley (Hope); his sisters, Barbara Sue Cox and Cathy Woods (Jerry); along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Chris dedicated his life to commercial construction and home improvement, working in the industry until his retirement. To know Chris was to love him. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was known for his tall tales, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Chris treasured time with his family, especially his grandsons. He enjoyed teaching them everything from fishing and bowling, to working on cars and tackling projects. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and share what he knew. Chris also loved our pets as if they were his grandchildren. The memories and knowledge he shared with us will live on for years to come.

Chris enjoyed trips to the lake, sitting on the porch at his daughter’s house, cooking out, and celebrating holidays, especially Halloween. He loved having a good time, listening to music, sharing stories and laughter, and enjoying an ice-cold Natural Light. His generous spirit, willingness to help others, and unforgettable personality made him a special part of the lives of all who knew and loved him.

Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 25, 2026, 4:00 pm at American Cremation & Funeral Service.

Send flowers to the service of Christopher Calvin Jones
