Dennis DeWitt Decker was born to the late Howard Decker and Inell Decker Mobley in 1956 in Newark New Jersey. In 2011, Dennis moved to North Carolina to assist with the care of his aging mother. Dennis served in the Navy and worked as a cook for many years. He was an avid member of his church, the World Overcomers of Durham, and volunteered often to help out at the homeless shelters. Dennis had a loving heart and never met a stranger. He was a true New York Giants football fan!
Dennis will always be loved and dearly missed by those he leaves behind; his mother, Inell Decker Mobley, his daughter Deneeque I. Decker; sons Darrell Beecham II, and Eric Andrews, his sister De Lois Brandon and brother Willie R. Decker. His very supportive and caring nieces, Phileshia L. Jackson, Almenia K. Garvey, Ilana C. Brandon, and nephew Timijyn A. Jackson; along with a host of other nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and lots of dear and caring friends.
A “Celebration of Life” memorial will be held at American Cremation Service located at 1204 Person St. Durham, NC on Friday November 13, 2020 from 5-7 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would kindly accept donations to the homeless shelters of Raleigh - Durham.

I just had a vision of him this morning. I be like he came to say hello to me and his other adoptive daughter. Pop D chose us to be his daughters through our darkest times as he was in his own. We were both pregnant women ina shelter when we met him. He instantly took protection over us and also fed us with his amazing cooking skills. He always put a smile on our face and gave us his love and support. He was a heaven sent father for us both. We are both are broken and sadden that he is no longer here with us to hear his voice but he is in our hearts and will remain forever and til we meet again. I feel he is an angel watching over his loved ones. For me to see him this morning pierced my heart and soul. "Pop D" Dennis Decker . We love you! The only thing that We have and will forever cherish is the memories we all share together and the impact he had on our lives. I also have an interview I did on him of his whole life that he shared with me.! And I will frame it and keepsake it!

Gonna miss you brother! It was always nice to see your smiling face and hear updates about your life. Even with the trials of life, you still managed to help others when you could inspite of the challenges. Rest peacefully, Chef! God bless you and comfort your loved ones.
