Doug, as he was commonly called, and I met as freshman in college, establishing a friendship that lasted for four years including a year together as roommates and four years as fraternity brothers. Although our interests were a bit different, we became fast, complementary friends. Memories that stand out include riding the train back to college in a blinding snowstorm that precluded our driving a car, an occasional double date, and a trip together over spring break to Miami Beach from Virginia in his GTO without stopping! I (Pete) even had the pleasure of teaching his wonderful daughter some years later. Doug was a good man and a good friend who will be very much missed and whose passing will cause many of our generation to question our own mortality. Rest in peace, Doug, and best wishes and condolences to your family. Pete and Bonnie McWilliams
