Edwin James McLenaghan, age 66, of Longs, SC, unexpectedly passed away on February 16, 2023. Ed was raised in Mechanicville, NY, and grew up at a rustic farmhouse of which he told fond memories of his childhood and anecdotes of time spent with siblings. He was jovial, kind, and loved spending time with his family. He was a loving husband and father and was quick with a silly pun or dad joke. Throughout the years, he had the time of his life singing as he played his guitar around the campfire. Always an avid outdoorsman, he truly enjoyed camping, nature, canoeing, kayaking in the marsh, and fishing. After moving to South Carolina, he embraced the beauty of the beach and ocean. As a master tinkerer, he was never without a “project” at home. He loved the unexpected adventure of what this world had to offer: a motorcycle ride along the open roads, an exploration through the mountains in the old Scout jeep, or a trip in the woods with his family.
Ed graduated from Windsor High School in Windsor, NY. After graduation, he started his career in manufacturing and recently retired as an industrial engineer from Midcon in North Myrtle Beach, SC, in late 2021.
Ed was predeceased by his parents, Edwin and Mary Lou McLenaghan. He married the love of his life, Elaine, in 1980, with whom he shared his life and family. He was a proud father and grandfather, known fondly as “Pop” by his children and grandchildren. He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters and meeting new people on his many adventures.
Ed is survived by his wife, Elaine McLenaghan, of Longs, SC; daughter Erin Blalock and husband Bentley Blalock; daughter Natalie McLenaghan; son Edwin McLenaghan and wife Kristin Weidner. He is survived by two grandchildren, Madeline and Evelyn McLenaghan. He is also survived by his brothers and sisters; Linda Graves and her late husband Gary Graves; Alan James (“Jim”) McLenaghan; Laurie Reed and her husband Brian Reed; and John McLenaghan. His many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandnieces, and grandnephews will miss him dearly.
A memorial in celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
To honor his memory in lieu of flowers, the family asks that you perform a random act of love, kindness, or service to someone in need. Donations can also be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or another charity of your choice.

Uncle Ed was one of the kindest loving souls I've ever known. I will miss his hugs! Eating peanuts at the beach will never be the same. Love you and I will miss you until we meet again🤗💜~Jess
Never a negative thought or unkind word ever spoken. Conversation was always engaging and thoughtful. Ready to laugh and share the best hug. I will miss you till we meet again. ~ your little sis ❤️
I will always have fond memories of Ed from our time at work. He loved to come to the oyster roasts at my house and play the big moo game and was always up for a pot of my cheesy grits and instead of calling me Janet, he would call me Mabel. To Elaine and all his family I offer you my deepest sympathy and prayers. Janet Gore
