Elroy Paul Allen was born on August 7, 1975 on the island of Saint Vincent and grew up in West End, Tortola, British Virgin Islands. He is the first child of Alvena Allen née Pompey and the late Roy Allen.
He was a loving husband to Colette Allen née Blair. Their beautiful journey began as high school sweethearts, and they married on July 1, 2002. They have two wonderful sons, Raymond and Ian. Elroy was deeply committed to training his children in the way of the Lord, ensuring that his legacy of faith continued.
Elroy's professional journey began at Barclays Bank & Trust B.V.I. Limited, where he served as a Corporate Officer and Compliance Officer from July 1993 to July 2000. He then moved to Equity Trust, working as a Compliance Officer from October 2000 to July 2002. During the summer of 2002, Elroy relocated with his wife to Durham, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration from North Carolina Central University in May 2006. His professional journey continued at North Carolina State Employees' Credit Union, where he served as a Loan Officer and Member Services Financial Officer.
Elroy's love for the Lord and his commitment to the church was evident through his active participation. He served as Adventurer Club Director from 2018 to 2020 and Pathfinder Club Director in 2024. His leadership and dedication were rooted in his own youth experiences as an active member of the Carrot Bay Pathfinder Club and as a Master Guide. In addition to his corporate roles, Elroy was a successful entrepreneur. He was the owner and president of ECA Sportswear LLC, where his passion for sports and business seamlessly merged. His enthusiasm for sports was highlighted by his avid support and love for the University of Connecticut (UConn) basketball team.
He was a man who genuinely cared for others and specialized in the lost art of communicating in person. He preferred personal phone calls over text messages, valuing real connections in an increasingly digital world. His engaging and well-informed demeanor made him a trusted voice of reason in both personal and professional circles. He enjoyed discussions on world events, politics and sports. He loved the outdoors and was a skilled fisherman.
Elroy passed away on May 16, 2024 in Durham, North Carolina. He is survived by his wife, Colette Allen; children, Raymond and Ian; mother, Alvena Allen; siblings, Ron Allen and Junelle Victor; nephew, Royce; niece, Jayce; special aunt, June Smith-Bramble; in-laws, other relatives and many friends. Elroy's life speaks for itself; his actions, decisions, and the love he shared with others are his true legacy.

My biggest condolences to Colette and the Allen Family. I met Colette during a family trip to Tortolla for his sister's wedding. Elroy and the family were so warm to me and our friendship has continued. Well done good and faithful servant. May God surround your family with love now and forever .
Honestly, I'm lost for words as you can imagine. Having Elroy as a great friend and brother for so long, it is a great loss. We've had many nights of long conversations that are now cherished memories. I want to extend love and prayers to Ms. Alvena, Ron, Junelle and to Colette and the boys. How can such a void be filled? It can never. Hold tight to the wonderful memories and love shared. And may God continue to be with you all. I light a purple candle in honour of our shared love for the LA Lakers. One love, Linton Leonard (BVI)
I was so deeply saddened when I heard the news of Elroy's passing. Elroy was a wonderful person who brought so much joy to those around him. I remember him being soft spoken and kind, willing to go the extra mile for others. One of my fond memories is me teasing my husband about how long him and Elroy would be on phone talking about everthing basketball.
My heart breaks for his immediate family as I know that this is an immense loss for them. Colette and the children, Ms. Alvena, Ron, Junelle, his niece and nephew and all the extended family, may God grant you peace and may the blessed hope comfort you all. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you during this very difficult time as I mourn with you all.
With heartfelt sympathy and love, Dawn
To my dear friend Sister Alvena along with the wife and children and the entire family of Elroy, I offer my sincere condolences. Elroy was a student in one of my classes at the British Virgin Islands High School and was such a pleasant young man. Steadfast in his studies, determined to succeed, helpful and kind were only some of the attributes he possessed. He was a role model for the other young people at that time and I'm certain that he carried those positive qualities with him through life. "There waits for us a glad tomorrow, when gates of pearl swing open wide, and when we pass this vale of sorrow, we shall dwell upon the other side." By God's grace, may you be strengthened in your grief and meet Elroy for a time of forever happiness. Rosalie Adams

Elroy was my classmate in The British Virgin Islands High School. He was a true and loyal friend and classmate, we always shared great laughs. We lost contact after graduation, but I got his number from our class group chat late last year . I immediately called him and to our delight we asked about each other throughout the years. We conversed for almost 5hrs straight. Same Elroy with the jokes and positive vibes. I extend my deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones. Rest Easy Bro

Condolences to the family on behalf of Sports Vision Academy and my family. Elroy was a good man, a man of his word, he made it his duty to only make promises he could keep. I enjoyed conversations about sports and politics with him, doing business with him was also a pleasure because he made it so easy. RIP bro 🕊️
